Choosing a defibrillator
An AED (automated external defibrillator) can be used by anyone, with voice prompts guiding each step. The main choice is between fully automatic models, which deliver the shock themselves, and semi-automatic models, where the rescuer presses a button.
What else you need
- Spare adult pads, and child pads or a child mode
- A spare battery, as batteries have a shelf life
- A cabinet, heated if it will be outside
- A trainer unit if you run CPR training
